Our Winter’s Palette on the Maine Coast

This has been an unusual winter so far along the Maine coast, with many backyards still bare instead of being buried under a couple of feet of snow. This shot of downtown Rockport from the east, with Union Hall at the far left and the Shepherd Block at center, shows that nature’s palette this winter includes a few patches of green grass. And yet even during such an odd winter, the Camden Snow Bowl and the Ragged Mountain Recreation Area, visible in the background of this image, continues to delight skiers and snowboarders with its manmade and natural snow. And with an ocean view from the top of the mountain, who cares if the conditions aren’t ideal?
