Classic Herreshoff Sloops, In Motion & Under Sail

The Stuart Knockabout is a 28′ sloop designed by L. Francis Herreshoff in 1932. Today, it has been replicated in fiberglass and teak, preserving the classic lines and performance of this wonderful design but without the maintenance needs of all-wood construction.

Here is a short video showing some Stuart Knockabouts under sail in a variety of conditions on Buzzards Bay, from relatively calm to a “sporty” breeze that pushes the yacht and its crew. Original music accompanying the video is “The Buzzard” by Mark Whitaker.
