* At 301 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Pearlington,
or 11 miles west of Waveland, moving west at 10 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

Slidell, Pearl River, Pearlington, and Stennis Space Center.

with heat index values up to 115 degrees expected. For the Heat
Advisory, heat index values up to 112 degrees expected.

WHERE: Portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi.

WHEN: For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM CDT this evening.
For the Heat Advisory, from 11 AM to 8 PM CDT Saturday.

IMPACTS: Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high
humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
