Special Weather Statement issued December 4 at 9:18PM CST by NWS Chicago IL
Scattered snow showers will likely continue into the overnight
hours. While many areas will be dry, anywhere under one of these
localized heavier snow showers will experience sharply reduced
visibility due to wind whipped snow, with visibility possibly down
to just a quarter mile in spots. In addition, temperatures falling
well below freezing will result in roads quickly becoming snow
covered and travel hazardous under the heavier snow showers.
Due to the scattered nature of these snow showers, some areas will
see little or no accumulation tonight. Other areas that end up
under one of the more robust snow showers could pick up a quick
half inch to locally an inch of snow.
Anyone traveling tonight should be prepared for rapidly changing
and deteriorating conditions. If you encounter a snow covered
road, use caution and slow down.
