...EXTREME HEAT WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING...

WHAT: Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values between
105 to 110 possible.

WHERE: Portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey,
and southeast New York.

WHEN: From Wednesday afternoon through Friday evening.

IMPACTS: Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase
the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those
working or participating in outdoor activities.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Coastal areas across southeast CT and Long
Island will likely see peak heat index values closer to 100 to
105. There is potential for the dangerous heat to continue into
Saturday.

PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:

Seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health
conditions are at an increased risk. Homes without air conditioning
can be much hotter than outdoor temperatures.

Use air conditioning to stay cool at home or go to a place that has
air conditioning. If you don't have home air conditioning, continue
to seek out cool spaces each day as long as it remains hot, and for
a few days after if your home is still hot. Check on vulnerable
friends, family members and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! In cases of heat stroke call 9 1 1.

...DENSE FOG ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM EDT THIS MORNING...

WHAT: Dense fog will reduce visibility to 1 NM or less.

WHERE: Long Island Sound east of Port Jefferson and New
Haven, Peconic and Gardiners Bays, and Moriches Inlet NY to
Montauk Point NY out 20 NM.

WHEN: Until 9 AM EDT this morning.

IMPACTS: Low visibility will make navigation difficult.

PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:

If you must navigate, proceed with caution. Use proper fog
signals. Make sure all running lights are on. Remember to use
your radar and compass.

...PATCHY DENSE FOG THIS MORNING...

Locally dense fog is currently being observed across southeastern
CT and eastern Long Island. These locally dense patches of fog
will reduce visibility to one quarter mile or less. Be prepared
for rapidly changing visibilities.

The fog is expected to dissipate with daytime warming by 9 AM.

If driving, slow down, use your low beam headlights or fog lamps,
and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
