* WHERE...Sandy Hook NJ to Montauk Point NY out 20 nm.
* WHEN...From noon today to 10 PM EST this evening.
* IMPACTS...Storm force winds and hazardous seas will capsize or
damage vessels and reduce visibility.
High Wind Warning issued December 11 at 3:11AM EST until December 11 at 10:00PM EST by NWS Upton NY
* WHAT...South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
* WHERE...In Connecticut, Southern New London County. In New York,
Northeast Suffolk and Southeast Suffolk Counties.
* WHEN...From noon today to 10 PM EST this evening.
* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down numerous tree limbs, and
scattered trees and power lines. Power outages are likely. Travel
will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Coastal Flood Statement issued December 10 at 4:30PM EST until December 11 at 10:00PM EST by NWS Upton NY
* WHAT...Up to 1/2 ft of inundation above ground level possible in
vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline during the
Wednesday morning and afternoon high tides
* WHERE...Northeast Suffolk, Southwest Suffolk and Southeast
Suffolk Counties.
* WHEN...During the times of high tide late tonight into
Wednesday morning and Wednesday afternoon into evening.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Brief minor flooding of the most
vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline.
* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 10 to 16 ft along the
ocean beaches of Suffolk County, 4 to 8 ft at Orient Point,
during the times of evening high tide will result in beach
flooding and erosion with scattered dune erosion. Localized
overwashes are possible where dune structures have been
compromised.
