OK, Maybe Sometimes Size Does Matter

I’ve claimed before that when it comes to boats, size doesn’t matter. But I might need to qualify my earlier statement, since size most definitely does make a difference when it comes to moving $270 million worth of power yachts across the Atlantic. That was the total value of the nineteen luxury power yachts that were propped up on the deck of the 686′ Yacht Express when it docked in Fort Lauderdale on October 24.

The largest yacht transported from the Mediterranean to Florida aboard Dockwise Yacht Transport’s flagship semi-submersible transport ship was the 190′ Mi Sueno. Although the luxury power yacht could’ve easily made the journey on its own bottom, its owner decided to ship it in order to give Mi Sueno‘s crew a break after a busy charter season, according to a statement by Dockwise Yacht Transport.

Other yachts aboard for the journey included three in the 160′ range and a 132′ motor yacht. Another shipment of twenty-four yachts totaling $190 million is due to arrive in Fort Lauderdale on October 28.

Impressive cargos, no doubt. But I’ll settle for a tour of the ship they took to get here.
