Wildlife Refuge Opens Headquarters and Visitor Center

On May 12 the new collaborative headquarters for the Friends of Maine’s Seabird Islands and the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuges opened its doors to the public. Although the exhibits are still in the development and fundraising stages, the turnout at our new facility on the Rockland waterfront was fabulous.

Please stop by our location at 9 Water Street to get a feel for our vision, to pick up a unique gift, or to browse the amazing photography we currently have on display in our gallery (thanks to the generous support of photographer Kirk Rogers). The center is open Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30.

To give you an idea of where we’re headed, check out this conceptual sketch of just one of the rooms we are planning within our 9,000-square-foot visitor center.
