Scene on the Coast: Belfast Waterfront Hums With Activity

Not so long ago, the Belfast waterfront was a relatively sleepy place, with just some tugboats and a few pleasure craft calling the mouth of the Passagassawakeag River home. That’s certainly not the case these days, as the growth of Front Street Shipyard and the city’s own growing appeal as a destination on the west side of Penobscot Bay has brought a ton of new activity to the waterfront. We stopped by Front Street Shipyard for a quick visit on August 6 and were blown away by all that’s going on at this new boatyard and marina, as well as in Belfast in general.

If you haven’t put Belfast on your cruising itinerary this year, you’ll want to add it today.
