Foliage season brings millions of people to Maine each year, as the Pine Tree State’s autumn colors are considered some of the best in the country. Plenty of those visitors arrive by boat, but most do not attract quite as much attention as the Rising Sun, a 453-foot megayacht that arrived at the Portland waterfront this week. Originally built for Oracle CEO Larry Ellison (whose interest in yachting has seen his team win the America’s Cup), the yacht is now reportedly owned by record company mogul David Geffen.
Rising Sun is currently tied up at the Maine State Pier. The yacht’s stats are truly extraordinary:
-82 rooms
-$200 million
-8,000 square feet of living space
-helicopter pad (doubles as a basketball court)
-personal submarine space
