Storm Scenes: Midcoast Maine Prepares for Sandy

Though Hurricane Sandy looked like it would make landfall in New Jersey, the massive storm’s impacts were already being felt on the morning of October 29 in midcoast Maine. A northeast wind had already stiffened into the twenty-knot range with gusts to thirty, and a quick check of Rockland, Rockport, and Camden harbors revealed that most boat owners had hauled their boats (and in many cases their docks, too) out of the water. The few boats that remained were stripped of their loose canvas, mooring lines were doubled, and the waiting began.

Keep checking USHarbors for updates from the coast as Hurricane Sandy makes her way northward, but in the meantime, how about logging into USHarbors and sharing a few photos of the storm’s impact in your favorite harbor?
