The Marine Fabricators Association recently presented Onboard Interiors with an award for Excellence in the Interior Marine Upholstery Category at the 2013 MFA National Convention. The competition is designed to recognize excellence in marine fabrication. We are thrilled to receive this award!
For this project, on a 1982 Eastbay, the owner requested a new interior, including V-berth and main salon cushions. The owner liked the look, color, and style of the old cushions, so we recommended new marine foam and a durable Ultrasuede because he wanted a cream color. Ultrasuede is a great fabric for owners with young children or pets.
The tufting style of the cushions and the bolster is very time-consuming. This design adds levels of difficulty for measuring, spacing, etc.
The owner and his family are very happy and comfortable onboard. His young daughter likes to play onboard. She named the boat Carousel, like a horse on a carousel, because all she says she does on the boat is go round and round!
