The Power of Choice: MJM Yachts Optimizes the MJM 43z for Triple Outboards or Inboard IPS Pod Drives

Voters aren’t the only ones with the power of choice this year. Now MJM Yachts and noted naval architect Doug Zurn team up to offer boaters the power of Mercury Verado 300 or 400 hp engines, or Volvo’s 500 or 650 IPS pod driven inboards in the MJM 43z.

Each offers distinct advantages.

For boaters looking for more weather protection and seakeeping than their current center console or sport boat, the 43z triple outboard is a logical step up.  In addition to the outboard 43z touting a top speed of 50 MPH, having the engines on the stern frees up a massive amount of storage space to bring along all the goodies.  Load in the wakeboards, the bikes, even golf clubs for the ultimate weekend.  The boat’s shallow draft allows the 43z to get into places that are out of reach to most. Low maintenance Merc Verado 300s or 400s mean you start your day with turn-key-and-go ease.  And MJM keeps the end of the day equally simple with quality finishes that need only a quick hose off.

The 43z is the heir to the MJM 40z cruising crown.  This IPS version boasts a top speed of 44.5 mph and category-leading efficiency (for half the trips to the fuel dock).  For closeness and access to the water, there is an oversize swim platform for relaxing or to serve as the launch pad for the dinghy.  The MJM 43z IPS edition is ISO-CE Category A OCEAN certified, a distinction that belongs to the MJM 53z, 50z, and 43z IPS alone in the world of express cruisers.

The company will also offer its 53z with the choice of outboard or inboard power.

No matter which powerplant is chosen, boaters will appreciate features in the MJMs that reflect the long yachting experience of the company’s Johnstone ownership.  These boats are built by and for real boaters.  The first to adopt Seakeeper as standard equipment, founder Bob Johnstone also standardized user-friendly assets like flush decks, opening windshields, opening side boarding doors, joystick docking, hover in place technologies and more.   The design of the hull, with its 3.5:1 length-to-beam ratio delivers an exceptional ride quality.
