We once again had the pleasure of attending the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the largest in-water boat show in the world. The 2024 edition lived up to FLIBS’ grand reputation, with sunny skies and a steady breeze that kept things comfortable for the USHarbors crew from Maine. And, as always, the best, brightest, and biggest yachts in the boating world were on display.

Why FLIBS is a Must-See Event
There are good reasons why FLIBS has become an annual event for us and over 100,000 others. Here’s what sets it apart:
- An Unparalleled Display of Powerboats: The show offered something for every boating enthusiast, from center-consoles of all sizes and electric-powered day boats to the world’s largest superyachts. While FLIBS is a paradise for powerboat lovers, sailing enthusiasts may find it less interesting, as the Annapolis Sailboat Show remains the go-to for non-motorized options.
- Innovative Vendors & Products: There was a huge range of exhibitors on display, from luxury mega-yacht accessories to eco-friendly and sustainable boating solutions. One standout for us was the U.S. debut of the Axopar AX/E, featuring the groundbreaking EVOY electric outboard motor—a significant step toward practical, cleaner, greener boating. Axopar also introduced the fishing version of the new 29 CCX at the show.
- Exceptional Food & Atmosphere: From fresh coconut juice to shrimp tacos and indulgent ribs, the culinary options never disappoint. And yes, as always, drinks were abundant to keep the festive atmosphere alive.
- A Scenic Location: Spread across seven stunning sites, FLIBS provides a unique opportunity to explore Fort Lauderdale’s beautiful canals. Water taxis connecting the venues not only offered convenient transport but also an enjoyable sightseeing experience.

Noteworthy Trends at FLIBS 2024
- Electric and Sustainable Innovation: Sustainability continued to take center stage. The Axopar AX/E wasn’t the only standout. Sialia Yachts showcased how they’re driving change in the marine industry with their electric 45 Sport dayboat.
- Community & Collaboration: Suzuki Marine USA, with their CLEAN OCEAN PROJECT, included a Fort Lauderdale beach cleanup during the show, an annual event. They also made waves when they announced of a special Hurricane Rebate Program to help boaters impacted by recent storms, and their industry-leading, 7-Year Warranty. If you haven’t already, check out their Stealth Series Outboards.

- We also had a chance to get aboard Formula Boats 457 Center Console Fish. Of the 457 CC series, would you choose the Fish or Sport?

The energy, innovation, and fun atmosphere makes FLIBS an annual event for USHarbors and a focal point for the marine industry. We’ve already put FLIBS 2025 on our calendar – will we see you there?
