* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 3 and 5
inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
* WHERE...Allegan, Ottawa, and Muskegon Counties.
* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Visibility and road conditions
may change rapidly over short distances in lake effect snow. Plan
on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact
the Thursday morning and evening commutes.
Heavy Freezing Spray Warning issued December 11 at 8:45PM EST until December 12 at 4:00PM EST by NWS Grand Rapids MI
* WHAT...For the Gale Warning, west winds 20 to 30 knots with
gusts up to 40 knots and waves 7 to 12 feet expected. For the
Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, heavy freezing spray at a rate
of up to one inch per hour expected, and may rapidly
accumulate on vessels.
* WHERE...St Joseph to Manistee.
* WHEN...For the Gale Warning, until 4 PM EST Thursday. For the
Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, from 10 PM this evening to 4 PM
EST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is
hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic
components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and
superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of
stability. Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
