Port Washington is located at the mouth of Sauk Creek on Lake Michigan, and has an artificial harbor, which was constructed in 1871. The city has one of the largest charter fishing fleets on the Great Lakes. The Maritime Heritage Festival celebrates the town’s nautical history. The Lion’s Fest & Fish Derby is an annual fishing competition.
