Stars and Stripes Forever on the Maine Coast

As Memorial Day passes once again, I continue to find it to be one of my favorite holidays of the year. I am very proud to be an American, and I have found that throughout my extensive travels along the eastern coast of Maine, many fellow coastal residents feel the same! Whether it be a tattered old flag that hangs off an old dock on Beals Island or a pristine flag flying high above a beautiful home in Castine, love for our country is alive and well on the coast of Maine.

There are few sights that can rival an American flag waving in the ocean breeze, for there is something so simple, yet so profound about it. The flag means many different things to many different people, but to me, it serves as reminder of how lucky I am to live where I live.

Here are some shots of flags flying in some of my favorite harbors on the Maine coast.
