What a Day on the Bay: Great Schooner Race 2012

The Great Schooner Race, a lighthearted competition between the traditionally rigged passenger boats that operate out of Camden, Rockport, and Rockland, is always a highlight of the boating season. This year we were especially fortunate to have fair skies and fresh breezes, leading to some of the best sailing the race has seen in years. And thanks to the crew at Wayfarer Marine, and especially dockmaster Ben Cashen, I was able to get some great shots of the boats under full sail and charging hard at the finish line. Here’s a gallery of some of the ships competing in the race on July 6, as well as a couple of attractive onlookers.
