I’ve been noticing more than the usual share of Concordia yawls in my home harbor of Rockport this spring. These 39- and 41-foot beauties always bring a touch of class to the waterfront, but having so many of them being commissioned — and being commissioned so early — drew my attention.
It turns out that this will be a busy summer for Concordia owners, with a bunch of events planned throughout New England to celebrate the 75th anniversary of this legendary design. From a Concordia rendezvous in Castine, a regatta in Marblehead and another regatta in Nantucket, to an end-of-season gathering in Padanaram, it’s going to be the summer of Concordia in New England.
I’ll be keeping my eye (and camera) out for them!

The Concordia Yawl tied to a dock in New England is a typical, and apparently timeless, sight.
