* WHAT...West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
* WHERE...Portions of northern Connecticut, southeastern
Massachusetts, and northern and southern Rhode Island.
* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and some power outages may result.
Gale Warning issued February 16 at 2:50PM EST until February 18 at 4:00AM EST by NWS Boston/Norton MA
* WHAT...For the Small Craft Advisory, south winds 15 to 25 kt
with gusts up to 35 kt and seas 5 to 8 feet. For the Gale
Warning, west winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 50 kt and
seas 7 to 12 feet expected. For the Heavy Freezing Spray
Watch, heavy freezing spray at a rate of 2 cm per hour or
greater possible, and may rapidly accumulate on vessels.
* WHERE...In Massachusetts coastal waters, Nantucket Sound,
Vineyard Sound and Buzzards Bay. In Rhode Island coastal
waters, Rhode Island Sound and Block Island Sound.
* WHEN...For the Small Craft Advisory, until 4 PM EST this
afternoon. For the Gale Warning, from 7 PM this evening to 4
AM EST Tuesday. For the Heavy Freezing Spray Watch, from
Monday evening through Wednesday morning.
* IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is
hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic
components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and
superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of stability.
Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or
damage vessels and reduce visibility.
