High Tide Flooding Outlook for January 2025Posted December 31, 2024Last Updated December 31, 2024 @ 3:50pm By US Harbors Monthly High Tide Flooding Outlook, January 2024 After several months where flooding has been predicted to be likely in several locations, this month NOAA is not predicting any locations to have likely flooding, despite generally higher tides around the full moon on January 13 and the new moon on January 29. “Likely” means that NOAA predicts a greater than 50% chance of flooding, as the predicted high tides will be very close to exceeding the flooding threshold. Real-time weather conditions, including wind direction and storm surge, could increase the potential for flooding. Make sure to print out the tide chart for your part of the coast so that you can keep track of the water levels in your favorite harbors.See the details on all the harbors and locations where NOAA is predicting possible coastal flooding this month below. About these Predictions: “These flooding likelihoods are derived from a probabilistic model that incorporates tide predictions, sea level rise trends, and seasonal changes in coastal sea level to predict the potential that a higher than normal high tide may exceed established National Ocean Service flood thresholds. During these periods, high tide flooding may occur in flood-prone areas.” NOAA Northeast: Possible Flood Days Bar Harbor, ME — POSSIBLE Jan 30,31 Portland, ME — POSSIBLE Jan 31 Boston, MA — POSSIBLE Jan 31 Mid-Atlantic: Possible Flood Days Kings Point, NY — POSSIBLE Jan 30,31 Sandy Hook, NJ — POSSIBLE Jan 30 Cape May, NJ — POSSIBLE Jan 30 Southeast: Possible Flood Days No flood days predicted Gulf Coast: Possible Flood Days Eagle Point, Galveston Bay, TX — POSSIBLE Jan 1-16 & 23-30 West Coast: Possible Flood Days Arena Cove, CA — POSSIBLE Jan 12 North Spit, CA — POSSIBLE Jan 1; 9-14; 28-30 Port Orford, OR — POSSIBLE Jan 10-14; 29 Charleston, OR — POSSIBLE Jan 1; 11-14; 29,30 South Beach, OR — POSSIBLE Jan 1; 9-15; 28-30 Toke Point, WA — POSSIBLE Jan 1,2; 8-15; 27-31 Hawaii: Possible Flood Days Kauai: Nawiliwili, HI — POSSIBLE Jan 1; 11-13 Oahu: Honolulu, HI — POSSIBLE Jan 11-13 Mokuoloe, HI — POSSIBLE Jan 1,2; 11-14; 28-30 Maui: Kahului, HI — POSSIBLE Jan 1,2; 12-14; 29-30 Hawaii, Big Island: Hilo, Hilo Bay, Kuhio Bay, HI — POSSIBLE Jan 1,2; 11-14; 29-30 Kawaihae, HI — POSSIBLE Jan 1,2; 12-13 If you see high tide flooding near you, please send us your photos and include the date, time, and location.
