* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 20 to 25 below zero
expected.
* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central, and
northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.
* WHEN...From 6 PM CST /7 PM EST/ Sunday to noon CST /1 PM EST/
Monday.
* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 to 25
below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as
30 minutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...After some recovery Monday afternoon, another
round of dangerously cold wind chills is expected Monday night
into Tuesday morning.
Heavy Freezing Spray Warning issued January 18 at 9:57PM CST until January 20 at 4:00AM CST by NWS Chicago IL
* WHAT...For the Small Craft Advisory, northwest winds to 30 kt
and significant waves to 8 ft occasionally to 10 ft. For the
Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, heavy freezing spray at a rate of
2 cm per hour or greater expected, and may rapidly accumulate on
vessels.
* WHERE...Gary to Michigan City IN.
* WHEN...For the Small Craft Advisory, until 10 PM CST Monday.
For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, from noon Sunday to 4 AM
CST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is
hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic
components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and
superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of
stability. Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.
