40 Years of Building Boats that Honor Downeast Heritage & Family

“We really value family here at Eastern Boats, and we run our business like a family.”

Eastern Boats has been building classic boats with DownEast hulls for over 40 years. Their boats are famous for their workboat heritage where safety, function, and comfort are valued over fancy add-ons. Their lines include center consoles to cabin boats from 18’-30’, and range from utilitarian finish to mini lobster yachts. In 2012, Eastern Boats introduced a wide-beam 27′ Tournament and Islander for hard-core anglers and cruisers, build on the original molds for the 22 Sisu–bringing that legendary hull back to its New Hampshire birthplace.

Eastern Boats

What started as a single boat in a two-bay shop is now a three-boat line company in a four-warehouse facility building boats 18′-30′. The first facility, started in 1981, had two small bays for assembly and glass shop space for two small hulls at a time.  Now forty years later, Eastern Boats is still building the DownEast boats that have launched the careers of many and provided years of memories.

A message from owner, Greg Hopkins

“The most substantial accomplishment Eastern Boats has endured together as a team? Well, we have been able to find strength in this situation by working together. We have stayed true to our family values which has defined us as a company that values hard work, team structure, and a belief that we can make it through anything if we stick together. We have been tested this year on many different levels. I believe we have passed that test and are now stronger because of it. We know we will move forward in a way that will make you all proud to be a part of our family for many years to come.”
