Antioch is a city located in Contra Costa County in the East Bay portion of the San Francisco Bay Area in California. The city is a suburb of San Francisco and Oakland along the San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta. Founded in 1850, it is one of the oldest towns in California. In 1863 copper ore was found in the area, causing many smelting works to be built and drawing new citizens. The industry quickly disappointed and now the area is mainly a bedroom community for adults working in the cities nearby.
Several small-craft facilities are at Antioch.
