Atlantic Highlands is a town on the south side of Sandy Hook Bay about 2 miles west of Sandy Hook. A breakwater, marked by a light at its eastern end, forms an anchorage basin. In 2009, depths of 4 to 8 feet were available in the basin.
The basin is used by numerous pleasure and party fishing craft. Numerous piles and ruins of former wharves are westward of the basin.
