    Erie, PA, located on the southeast shore of Lake Erie and in extreme northwestern Pennsylvania, averages about three days each year with maximum temperatures in excess of 90°F (32.2°C). July is the warmest month with an average high of 79°F (26.1°C) and an average minimum of 62°F (16.7°C). January is the coolest month with an average high of 33°F (0.6°C) and an average minimum of 20°F (-6.7°C). The highest temperature on record for Buffalo is 100°F (37.8°C), recorded in June 1988, and the lowest temperature on record is -18°F (-27.8°C), recorded in January 1994. About 124 days each year see temperatures below 32°F (0°C), and an average nine days each year record temperatures below 5°F (-15°C). Every month has seen temperatures below 50°F (10°C), and every month except July, August and September has recorded temperatures at or below freezing (0°C).

    The average annual precipitation for Erie is 40.5 inches (1,029 mm), which is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year. Precipitation falls on about 223 days each year. The wettest month is September with 4.1 inches (104 mm), and the driest, February, averages only 2.3 inches (58 mm).
