Boating, Fishing, and Travel Information for Big Pine Key, Spanish Harbor, FL

The island of Big Pine Key in Monroe County is home to the only freshwater lake in the Florida Keys. The lake is called the Blue Hole and is an abandoned rock quarry. The quarry is home to wildlife including alligators and green iguanas. Big Pine Key is also home to the National Key Deer Refuge. Spanish Harbor Channel is located off the southeastern coast of the key where the Overseas Highway connects Big Pine Key to Spanish Harbor Wayside and then to Bahia Honda Key.
