Cape Romain is located on the southeastern coast of South Carolina near Awendaw, Charleston County. The area is home to the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge which encompasses many islands, creeks, bays, and marshes in the region. Much of the refuge is only accessible by boat, and a ferry goes out regularly to Bulls Island, the largest of the barrier reefs in the refuge.
