The many rental moorings are tightly packed but have plenty of swinging room. They go from unavailable in mid-summer to wide open on the shoulder sailing seasons.
The anchorage to the north of the mooring field is small due to the rapid shoaling. The harbormaster may ask you to re-anchor if you’re too close to the mooring field.
Holding is marginal in thick weeds, so watch the weather.
The outer harbor also has rental moorings and room for several boats to anchor. It can be a good option in the right weather.
Navigation:
The channel into Cuttyhunk’s inner harbor is well marked and reports 7′ controlling depth. The mooring field is a dredged square area, well buoyed. Don’t go outside the dredged area clearly noted on the chart, as it shoals rapidly outside.
