North Haven is an important summer resort and yacht center on the north shore of Fox Islands Thorofare. State automobile, mail, and passenger ferry service to Rockland is maintained the year round. Taxi service, food, and lodging are available in the village.
The north shore of Vinalhaven Island, across the Thorofare from North Haven, has numerous summer residences with private landing floats.
